“I was heartbroken. I’ve been crying for like four days,” said fan Gabrielle Sherman, revealing the extent of Mac’s impact. Another fan, Johnny Rogan, spoke to the importance of rallying at Blue Slide Park, stating “it hits home for sure. It’s just incredible to come here knowing he’s been here,” “Knowing this was such an influence on his life and knowing he’s been such a big influence of mine.”
Mac Miller’s grandmother was in attendance, addressing the crowd with an emotional speech. “He would be so excited,” she said, holding back tears. “I wish he was here, but he loves you all. He loves Pittsburgh and everything you have done for him.” Pittsburgh returned the love in kind, painting with slide blue in Mac’s honor.
Rest in peace to a young icon, who had a profound impact on people from all walks of life. We’ll miss you, Mac.
